NaNoWriMo 2012 is coming!

Participant 2012 - 180 x 180

The Young Writers' Program of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) resumes this November at Bowman Library to encourage middle school and high school students to write a novel.
All Write-Ins are held on Tuesdays at Bowman Library beginning at 6 p.m.
We kick-off our writing with a Launch Party on October 30.
We write furiously throughout Novemeber; posting our progress, reaching for our goals and meeting weekly on Tuesdays for encouragement and inspiration.
We will celebrate our successes on Tuesday, December 4 (also at Bowman Library; also at 6:00 p.m.)

Elephant Appreciation Day

It's Elephant Appreciation Day!
We celebrated the earth's largest,
most interesting,
and most noble animal.

We made masks.

We heard the story of Elmer the elephant
and made a friend for Elmer.

We danced to Henry Mancini's Baby Elephant Walk.

Become a Youth Volunteer!

Our library can always use more youth volunteers! It's great to have extra people shelving books, setting up programs, and very importantly, helping out with our puppet shows! In these shows, the youth entice children with songs and stories. They plan out their parts, get the puppets ready, and put on great shows that everyone loves to see. The youth really enjoy putting on these plays, why not sign up and be in one too? For all the info, click on Become a Youth Volunteer! in the title.

Join now! A volunteer myself, I love helping here at the library. Here's a few shots of other teens working on puppet shows and other activities:
